Links can generally be classified as either external, meaning they redirect users to another website, or internal, in which case users are redirected to another page on the same website. Interlinking involves the creation of internal links, guiding users to another post or page.

Interlinking offers several benefits worth noting, one of which is improved visitor satisfaction. If you are writing a blog post that mentions a topic covered in a different blog post, you can add a link to other post so visitors can find more information about it. Some visitors may click the link to learn more about the topic, eliminating the need for them to research the topic via an external source.
Another reason why you should interlink your content is because it encourages higher search rankings and more indexed pages. Search engines work by sending armies of bots to scan websites. When a search engine bot encounters a link, it follows the link to the new page. Therefore, interlinking helps search engines identify new posts and pages, which in turn may encourage higher search rankings. This doesn’t necessarily mean that interlinking is going to boost your blog’s Google rank, but it will certainly help.
How to Interlink Blog Posts
Think interlinking is too difficult or too time-consuming? Think again.
The most basic way to interlink your blog posts together is to simply create them by hand. Go through your blog posts and add links to relevant anchor text that pertains to other posts or pages. If you published a blog post about how to train your dog, for instance, you may want to link to that post from other pages and posts which contain keywords like “dog training,” “how to train your dog,” etc. WordPress offers an easy link creator in its visual editor and allows you to easily search your internal posts and pages.
If you’re looking for a hands-off approach to interlinking, try using a third-party plugin like Insights. This WordPress plugin will search all of your posts, allowing you to insert links into all or a select few of them. There are several other interlinking plugins available for WordPress, although Insights seems to be the preferred choice among many bloggers and Internet marketers. It’s fast, effective, easy to use, and is compatible with the latest version of WordPress.

I’m not sure why anyone wouldn’t be in favor of internal links. They’re essential in my opinion.
